p-Anisic Acid · CAS 100-09-4
4-Methoxybenzoic acid (p-anisic acid) forms white needle-like crystals or crystalline powder, combining preservative, antibacterial and fragrance-fixing functions. Melting point 184-186 °C; readily soluble in ethanol and ether, soluble in hot water, slightly soluble in cold water.
It is produced from p-hydroxybenzoic acid by methylation with dimethyl sulfate under alkaline conditions, using continuous tubular reactor technology — short reaction time, few by-products, stable quality, meeting both food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade standards.
