Diethyl Acetamidomalonate

Diethyl acetamidomalonate (diethyl 2-acetamidomalonate) is an important amino acid synthesis intermediate — white crystals or crystalline powder at room temperature, soluble in hot alcohol, slightly soluble in ether and hot water, with a slight irritating odor. It is the key raw material for the pharmaceutical synthesis of alpha-amino acids and their derivatives, produced from diethyl malonate via nitrosation, reduction and acetylation.
