4-Fluorobenzaldehyde · CAS 459-57-4
4-Fluorobenzaldehyde is an important fluorinated aromatic aldehyde fine chemical intermediate — a colorless transparent liquid at room temperature with an irritating odor, miscible with ethanol, ether and other organic solvents, slightly soluble in water. It is sensitive to air and must be kept sealed during storage and use.
The aldehyde group is highly reactive, participating in Wittig reactions, reductions, condensations and other organic transformations; the para fluorine markedly tunes the molecular electronic effects, influencing the rate and selectivity of many reactions.
